There could be two ways of travelling from Bergen to Bremen, Germany in 1881. The “Route 1 “ had a route from Hammerfest - Hamburg twice a week stopping at several stops along the vest coast. Alternative two is a route from Christiansand to Fredrikshavn,Denmark and by train to Bremen. In Bremen they embarked large transatlantic steamers. In this case there are two ships that arrived New York June 17 that may be interested to have a look at; The “S/S Main” and the “S/S Nürnberg”.
The Inman Line 1887 from Bergen used one of the Wilson Line Steamers from Bergen – Stavanger – Hull, England and from Liverpool with a lager Atlantic Steamship to New York. The children could have reached the “S/S City of Richmond” that arrived New York September 21 or the “S/S Ohio” arriving in New York September 30
