SS Aurania
Uff DaDoes anyone know where I could get a picture of the SS Aurania that was built in 1883? Grandparents came over in that ship in 1898. Thanks. Lori Lauen
BorgeI am not 100% sure if it has a picture of the ship, but you should try this book: Picture History of the Cunard Line, 1840-1990 by Frank Osborn Braynard, William H. Miller. You should be able to get it from your local library, or order it from Amazon.com (for $10.47): http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0486265501/100yearsofemi-20 Børge Solem Edited by - borge on 04/05/2002 19:34:45
Uff DaThank you for the information. I will check that out. I got the ship manifesto from the Ellis Island site for 1898 and they had a picture of a ship but it was the SS Aurania that was built in 1915 so was not the ship my grandparents came over on. (Actually it is my husband's grandparents) Thanks. Lori Lauen
frankgnvI know your message is old but I just found it. you can get a photo of the correct aurania on this web site: http://archives.ubalt.edu/steamship/transa.htm My wife's grandparents came over on her in 1903.

BorgeThis isn't a very good copy, but in case you do not find another, I have uploaded it to the image gallery. It was printed in an old booklet my great-grandfather issued, and I think I have the original photo somewhere, but can't not find it right now.
