Frederick Charles ANDERSON
ihockingTrying to find information regarding Frederick Charles Anderson. From a 1927 NSW Australia birth certificate, Frederick is named as the father, Occupation: Labourer, Age: 39 (ie: born approx 1888), Place of Birth: Bargen, Norway,(assume this is Bergen ???) Address at time of birth of his son, 8th Avenue, Campsie. Registered at Redfern, NSW, Australia, 17th October 1927. The mother and son, not long after, returned to New Zealand and all contact etc with Frederick was lost. The son was raised under a different surname and only found the name of his natural father from this birth certificate in 1988. Family suspect he may have been a sailor ??? Any help in tracing anything on Frederick would be appreciated. Ian Hocking
askeroiI too thought Bargen was a misprint for Bergen. And searched the Bergen churchbooks, which are online at Digitalarkivet. For the years 1815-1894 there is one - and only one - Fredrik Charles baptized in Bergen. Born 14. april 1889 (bapt. 26. may) 1889. It's just one hitch - his father isn't called anything like him. Or anything that would explain his name - he's called Samson Olai Johannesen. I asume it is the wrong guy. There also is one Charles Fredrik Magnus. Born 26. jan. (bapt. 23. febr.) 1890. But the father's name is just as wrong: Ole Eriksen Flor. So either Bargen doesn't mean Bergen - or he was born in a small place outside Bergen where the church books are not available online. Sorry. You could try asking at the user debate forum at Digitalarkivet, though. There's a lot of people with knowledge from the Bergen area willing to try and help you. And if Bargen is somewhere else you may very well find somebody who knows where it is. GOOD LUCK. askeroi
