Norwegian Immigrants to America
peter	My grandmother, Anna Maria, arrived in Alpena, Michigan sometime in the early 1880's. She was about 12 at the time and was an orphan. She came over on a Norwegian ship filled with Norwegian immigrants who settled in Alpena. I don't know the name of the ship, but I do know the name of the skipper. His name was Erickson. That is the surname my grandmother assumed. Is there anyone out there in Internet land who may know something about that ship of Norwegians. Most of them are buried in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetary in Alpena. Peter M. olsen
cjbaru	hello peter: Go to ellis island and look up the name erickson and if your grand mother came through there her name will be on the passenger list. We are also looking for relatives but we don"t know if they came in through canada or ellis island. it is hard so i wish you luck.

hannedyveke	Hi Peter. Do you know were she is born? I have been looking, briefly, and most of the people who went to Alpene is from the territory around Oslo/Christiania. Communitys like Asker/Bærum/Lillestrøm. Often, on the lists, you can find the goal/determination for the trip, but not always. When you are writing Alpena there is ships from Oslo/Christiania who is the result. The ship Angelo is one of them. Her name, Anna Maria, can be spelled on different ways som I think you will need some more information. Do you know if she lived in a house for orphans before she left?? indep	does anyone have any information on (ole martinez egeland)? we have heard that he was the captain of the Undine, but have not been able to verify this or the dates. also, we noticed that the Undine was built in 1851 with not much information on her voyages or her crew lists. what ever hapened to her? thanks for your time! the Egelands
