| lgross2@juno.com | I'm looking for passenger lists for the Ship Thingvalla for the year 1889. Any Suggestions? My Grandmother Christina M. Nelson immigrated to the US from Denmark on this ship in 1889 and I'm not sure of the month of sailing.

| Borge | You should be looking for the list on the NARA films covering the New York arrivals that year. Are you sure you are looking for the steamship Thingvalla, and not ships owned by the steamship company Thingvalla?

That database consists only of emigrants departing from Oslo (Christiania). The Thingvalla ships embarked passengers in Copenhagen, Oslo and Kristiansand, so a complete passenger list is only available from NARA as it was filed when the ship arrived to New York

| ninakarls | The names of the ships of Thingvalla Line in 1889 were:
Hekla, Island, Danmark (nee Jan Breydel) and Norge (nee Pieter de Coninck). The two latter were bought from Engels Line, after the disaster with Thingvalla and Geiser in 1888. "Denmark" was lost 1889, and "Norge" in 1904.
