Looking for Sofie Nydal (Nydahl)
JaneFirst time on this website. I am looking for Sofie Nydal. What ship, what port of departure, date of departure, and date of arrival to U.S. or Canada? From the Emigranter fra hele Norge[5061/57] I have the following: Harbor was 73316 Aalesund, Personal number 864, Date of ?Police report 1910 Juli 21, Name as listed Sofie Nydal, female, enke (widow), uten stilling (no occupation), date of birth 1853, Bopel was Strande. Her daughter Emma Petrine Nydal age 21 traveled with her. They settled in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Thank you very much. Jane
BorgeAccording the information in the Norwegian police registers, she traveled on a ticket from the "Canadian Pacific Line". Their agents were authorized to convey emigrants to Quebec, Montreal and St.Johns and by Canadian Pacific Railway to the final destination in North America. It is quite likely that she traveled on the S/S Aaro of the Wilson Line from Aalesund to Hull in England. The Aaro took passengers destined to travel from Trondheim on the 20th, and would pick up passengers in Kristiansunsd and Aalesund on the way to Hull. From Hull she would have traveled by train to Liverpool to board a transatlantic steamer for Canada. Børge Solem

Thank you very much Borge for shedding more light on Sofie. I had been searching the passenger records of Ellis Island without success. Sorry for messing up the board here by clicking on the wrong buttons. Also, I think I unsubscribed to the whole board but meant to simply remove myself from the Anderson file. Jane
Nothing was messed up Jane, it just takes a little time to get used to how the board works. I hope you will have success in finding the Canadian passenger list and ship. Børge Solem
