Pedersdatter/Nilson to USA |
jj | I'm told my great uncle's (Peder Rasmussen) daughter, Johanna PEDERSDATTER, and son, Per MAGNUSSON came to America in 1880. Also, Lars NILSEN, who was married to Johanna. I don't know if they married in Norway or here in the States. Their destination was Dalton, Minnesota, Is there anyway I can find information on them? I'd sure appreciate it. The farm name was either Misaloen or Sagmoen for Johanna.
Thanks!

Trond | Hello,
ninakarls are right, the family can be found in volume II of the Tynset Bygdebok, page 361.
According to the Bygdebok; Johanna was born January 12th 1852 and married to Magnus L. Berg from Sweden. They had a son Per Magnusson born December 17th 1870. There is no date for year for emigration there.

jj | Thank you for the information on Johanna and Magnus L. Berg. I found it interesting as I was told they weren't married. I had heard that Magnus came to the States, at the same time as Johanna and the son, Per, in 1880. It seems she married Lars Nilsen here.

It is just written that Johanna and Magnus had a son Per Magnusson, sorry about that one.
In the “Christiania Police Emigrant Records” for 1880 there is listed
Johanna Pedersdatter, pige (maid), 28 for St. Paul
Peder Pedersen, dreng (boy), 9 for St. Paul
Lars Nilson, arbeider (worker), 44 for Fergus Falls
All tree leaving Tynset
Traveling from Christiania April 30 on the Wilson Line steamship Angelo for Hull, England. Agent Fr. Lie. He was agent for the White Star Line in 1880.
There is a chance you could find them on the White Star Line, S/S Celtic, arrived in New York May 21, 1880.
