Olaf Sannum and Axel Sannum
Bersann I know this is a long shot, but im gonna try anyway. Im looking for help in how i could find Olaf and Axel Sannum. I know they went to the US when they where in ther 20's (1910 - 1920). But sadly thats all the info i could find. I got this information when i was talking to my grandmother last week. If someone can help me in some way it will be of great help. Bernt Sannum
TrondHei Bernt, Olaf, 20 left Oslo February 28th 1915 on the S/S Bergensfjord and arrived in New York March 13. You can find his records at Ellis Island web site http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/default.asp Axel however is missing but another 3 probably family member were onboard, Johan 27, Emma 26 and Hanna 17. They were going to Gilbert Jacobsen, Muscoto, Wisconsin. Their father was Hans Jacobsen Sannum, Modum Øst. Trond Austheim Edited by - Trond on 01/10/2002 20:00:48
thelebrityIn 1910 a Axel Hansen from Modum left for Canada to visit his brother: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=arkivverket/emikra1&variabel=0&postnr=149474&fulle=true&spraak=F It looks like Johan Sannum had another trip to Wisconsin in 1909, and that he used the patronym Hansen: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=arkivverket/emikra1&variabel=0&postnr=137621&fulle=true&spraak=F A Gilbert Sandum returned to the USA in 1895, and is listed with USA as his home place. I can't find his emigration record, but the Digitalarkivet emigration records aren't yet complete: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=arkivverket/EMIOSLO&variabel=0&postnr=111960&fulle=true&spraak=F Per Helge Seglsten
BriningHi Bernt Muscoto is probably Muscoda, Grant County Wisconsin. Here is a USgenweb site for Grant County http://www.rootsweb.com/~wigrant/index.htm There are a couple of links for posting queries or lookups there. They probably went by Hanson/Hansen. Include birthdates if you have them and any other info you have when posting. Another option is to search for them on the Social Security Death Index http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi The advance search lets you type in birth years which will narrow down the list. I checked on Sannum and found one, Christian so if they are listed it would be under Hanson or Hansen. You can also try posting on the Digitalarkivet debate forum (the link is below). And one last place is to subscribe to the Norway list http://members.tdn.com/dagwood/NorwayList.htm (Read the guidelines first). They may be able to give you some help. If you do subscribe be prepared to receive a lot of e-mails, it is a pretty active list. Hope one of these leads you down the correct path Carla
