Marriage and baptism in Nittendalen?
rcsmithMy ggrandfather was Karl Andreasen, b. 1885 in Lunner, Krs. He was the son of Andreas Olsen and Marie Ingebritsdatter of Nerengen(gaard). He married Marie Kristensdatter, b. 1886, dtr of Kristen Lars. and Karen Johannesd. of Kjorven(gaard). This information is from the 1900 census. Karl and Marie married and had a daughter Elise Marie, b. Apr 23, 1907. They emigrated to Canada June 7, 1907 and at the time of emigration their residence was Nittendalen - per Digitalarkivet emigrants sailing from Kristiania. I am trying to find out when and where Karl and Marie married. There is a silver spoon with the name Elise Marie engraved in it and also the date May 19, 1907. Would this be when she was baptised/confirmed? Does anyone know where I could obtain information about the marriage of Karl and Marie and baptism of Elise? Thank you.
thelebrityThe date engraved is probably the date of the baptism. Nittedal is a kommune just outside of Oslo, in Akershus fylke (fylke=county). I can't find any parish registers of Nittedal online. But it might help with a query to the state archives in Oslo. statsarkivet.oslo@riksarkivaren.dep.no If Elise was their firstborn, then they probably married a year or so before her birth. You could also try to get someone to do a lookup in the Nittedal bygdebok by Birger Kirkeby. It's the volume 1 of the "Bygdebok for Nittedal og Hakadal" and it was printed in 1965. The best way to find an owner of this book is to try a query at the debate forums at http://digitalarkivet.no/cgi-win/WebFront.exe?slag=vis&tekst=meldingar&spraak=e Per Helge Seglsten
rcsmithThank you Helge! I went into the debate forums at digitalarkivet but it appears to be in Norwegian. Is it okay to ask for someone to do a lookup in the Nittedal bydebok in English? Cindy Onions Smith
thelebrityEnglish will do fine. Most of the people there understand english very well. good luck! Per Helge Seglsten
rcsmithHelge, thank you! Someone answered my request in the debate forums at the Digitalarkevit and was able to find the information I was looking for! I had incorrect information about my great-grandmothers family which was leading me astray. Now I am on the right track! Thank you so much Helge! Cindy Onions Smith
