Emigration from Ostmark, Sweden 1864
vickiehDoes anyone have an idea where my ancestors from Ostmark, Sweden would have embarked in 1864? I have found in the digitalarkivet harbor protocols for Christiania, Norway my ancestors who left Vitsand, Varmland, Sweden in 1869 and 1870, but it looks like those records don't exist for travel before 1865?
vickiehAdditional comments from vickie: From the map it looks like Oslo (Christiania) would have been the nearest port? I am searching for information about Anders Swensson Bollman and his family. I have unofficial information that he came to the US in 1864. He died in the Cokato MN area in 1866. His wife was Ingeborg Halstendotter Bollman 1816-1908, their children were Maria born 1845, Sven, Hallsten born 1851,Jons (John) 1853, Kaijsa 1856, Ingeborg 1859 and names unknown of two younger children who died very young.
BorgeThere are no records for ships in 1864, the Canadian archives starts in 1865, the Norwegian emigratin records in 1867. Here is a diagram with a timeline of records available for emigrants who left Norway for America Børge Solem
