| wade | Per Digitalarkivet, Trondheim Emigrants, (re 09 June 1881) there is the Line "Tyske", via Kristiania and Oslo, with agent "Andr. Holm." mentioned once. Could "Andr. Holm." be Aand. Holm, Trondheim, Norddeutscher Lloyd, and the Line "Tyske" mean a German line generally, in this case, Norddeutscher Lloyd? If so, how might the actual ship's name, route, passengers, etc. be pursued? Maybe the S/S Main or S/S Nürnberg, arriving New York June 17, per an earlier posting, Topic "Norddeutscher Lloyd"? | Trond | Passengers from Trondheim would have used train to get to Christiania (Oslo) in 1881. There were two routes from Oslo to the Hamburg-Bremen area used, one via Arendal – Kristiansand direct to Hamburg. Another route was via all kind of small towns in Oslo-fjord and Skagerak to Fredrikshavn in Denmark. From Fredrikshavn, train through Denmark to Hamburg or Bremen. If your passenger left Trondheim June 9th there is a good chance that S/S Kong Bjørn was used to depart from Oslo June 11th.
