Kristian Rustand of Sole gaard in Eggedal
johber2Would appreciate help in tracking down relatives of my wife's. The son in question was named Kristian Rustand. He left on a ship bound for America in 1884, but whether he migrated there on his own or with his father is as yet unclear. His father's name was Sebjørn Engebretsen Rustand, born at Nore in Buskerud county in 1838. He later sold his farm in Sole, Eggedal(Buskerud) in 1876 and a year later had settled in Sande in Vestfold county. The problem here is: Did father and son Rustand leave for America TOGETHER in 1884, or did only the son, Kristian Rustand, make it there? Anybody out there with sufficient PC practice or access to useful archives who can help out? Thank You! Sincerely, Johan Berger Tord Pedersen gate 89a, DRAMMEN johber2@world-online.no Dated: Nov. 6th, 2002
BriningHere is a Kristian Rusten age 10 traveling with a Engebret H. Rusten This is probably not the correct one. Destination is Pelican which might mean Pelican Rapids Minnesota Emigrants from Oslo I didn't find any Sebjørn that seemed to fit. What was the name of the farm he lived on in Sande? He may have used that name when emigrating. When was Kristian born? Carla

johber2Dear Brining, Thanks for your prompt reply of Nov.7th. Christian was born in 1867. He may have taken the name 'Solum' after the farm 'Sole'in Eggedal(Buskerud county). His father may have done likewise. Please write back if this latest information is of any use. Sincerely, Johan Berger johber2@world-online.no Edited by - johber2 on 11/11/2002 23:30:50
BriningHi I haven't found Kristian but this looks like a good possibility for Sebjørn Click here Mayville could be Michigan, Wisconsin or North Dakota.
