Kristiansund Routes
tsolbergI have ancestors who lived near Otta. Legend has it that their 1868 departure was from Kristiansund. Given the two locations does that sound logical, or would they more likely have chosen Kristiansand or Christiania. If kristiansund sounds right, would they sail north around the U.K. and to United Sttes direct or would they use a feeder line to Hull and then train and depart from Liverpool.
BorgeHi Kristiansund might well be the place, if so, they would probably have traveled by coastal steamer or freighter to Bergen to board a sailing ship for Quebec, or traveled on a steamship to England to board a transatlantic steamer from there. You should have a good chance of finding them on a Quebec arrival, as the majority of Norwegian emigrants traveled via Quebec in 1873 Børge Solem
