| katelynne | Does anyone know if records were kept for fosterchildren in Norway? I'm assuming there must have been some records kept since fosterparents were given a monetary supplement for providing for these children.
My g-grandfather: Peter (Peder) Oluf Andreassen For(s)sland b. 1853-54 (possibly i Alstadhaug), is shown to be a fosterchild in the 1865 census for Grong municipality. I'm hoping background information about him was recorded somewhere.
He was taken in by Erik Johansen (Gartlandsaasen) b. 1821 i Grong, og Engeranna Lorntsdatter b. 1838 i Sparboe.

| Brining | The parish records for Grong should have infomation, birth etc. The LDS http://www.familysearch.org/ has many of the parish records on microfilm and locations all over, hopefully one close to you.

The "Fatigkassen" archives are usually kept in the "Kommune" (municipality) archives (Not like the church records and censuses which were handed over to the "Statsarkiv" - regional). Not all municipalities have good archives, and many of those records have been lost. I would try contacting the local historians at the place where they lived, I think the Grong area has a very active historic society. Try writing to:

| Andrea Anderson | This Johansen..was he related to Henrik Johansen? Henrik Johansen was my great-great-great grandfather. Have not been able to find any information on him, can anyone help?
his sons were Andreas Vilhelm Henriksen and Karjas Henriksen.
