Pattie	Hello, I don't have much to go on but here goes. Horten A Hansen born in Norway and came to Philadelphia Pennsylvania, USA in 1904. Would there be a way of tracking where he came from in Norway by the date of his arrival in USA? He married Ingeborg. 37 yrs old in 1930 census. Three children, Eleanore, 15 yrs old in 1930 census. I don't think he was the natural father of Eleanore. Ruth, age 4 in 1930 census Horten Jr., age 2 in 1930 census They lived at 102 West Annsbary Street in Phila. and he was a Carpenter on the Reading Railroad. Thanks for any help. Pattie

Brining	Hi Pattie There is no Horton Hansen in the 1900 census for Norway so I suspect it is an Americanization of a Norwegian name. You can search the Norwegian census and emmigrant lists at the Digitalarkivet. The link is below. Have you tried Ellis Island in case he came through there. That could give you more information to search on. Also getting copies of his naturalization papers, his death certificates and marriage license, could give you more clues (parents names, where he came from) to know where to search in Norway. Get as much info on him as you can in the US to help in your search in Norway. Carla
jwiborg	Hello Pattie, I think I found the ancestor you're looking for...! Morten Ernst Hansen, Tapetser (=carpenter), male, not married, 18 yrs old, left Christiania (Oslo) on May-06-1904. Destination was Chicago. Nobody was named "Horten" in the 1900 census for Norway. And your "Horten" was also a carpenter! This can't be just a coincidence...! However, one thing to mention at last is the search on http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/. One "Morten Hansen, Norwegian", arrived on January 14, 1904, age: 19y 2m, Shop of travel: Belita.
