norwegian grandparents |
kbjb | I have records for my fathers family from Meby Farm, Broennoey Parish, Nordland dating to 1779 and my mothers family from the Bergen and Drummond area going back to the 1850's. They all seem to have emigrated to the U.S. between 1880 and 1890. I also have the first pages of the family bilbe but it's in norwegian and I can't read it.
Where do I look to find out how and exactly when they got here?
My parents were born in Marinette and Pestigo, Wisconsin.

Brining | The Digitalarkivet (the link is below) has emigrant lists. Click on Categories, Emigrants and then registers. You should be able to find them there. Your fathers family probably sailed from Trondheim and your mothers from Bergen.
In the US, the 1900 census would list the year they came over and also if you can get a copy of their naturalization papers, they would give you more info.
