Hunting Passenger lists
amortensenIn the reading of passenger lists, how can I determine the minor passengers travel partners? Passenger John Mortensen age 3 came to NYC in 1851 aboard the Brig INCOGNITO.
BorgeJohn Mortensen age 3 is number 42 on the list, right? Number 39 is listed as Morten Iversen, then Ingeborg Iver and John is listed with "repeat marks" below him, which indicates that this is a family. I will make a scan of the list. Børge Solem Edited by - Borge on 21/01/2003 19:47:27
EschmandWhat list are you looking at and/how does one find the lists? I am looking for my grandmother who immigrated in 1905. Cannot find her in the Ellis Island listing and I do not know where in Norway she sailed. Her name is Kristine Nelson, born March 17, 1887. Please help! Ellen
jwiborgHi, there is one "Kristine Nils." who emigrated from Kristiania (Oslo) on 02-Jun-1905. She is 18 yrs old, and her destination was North Dakota. Click here She is living in "Søndre Aurdal" in Oppland county. This looks to be her in the 1900-census: Click here If so, her father is "Nils Nilsen" b.1844 in "Vermeland" (Sweden (?)), and "Berte Marie Gudbr." (prob. Gudbrandsdatter), b.1861 in "Hedalen", Norway. //Jan Peter
EschmandThank you for your response. I have seen both of these records in the past and do think Kristine is the person I am looking for. I have not been able to find her in the Ellis Island records and not sure what port she arrived in the US. Would like to find more so I can confirm this is my grandmother Kristine. Ellen
