Bark Edda
jpritchardI found my great grandmother of the list of the Bark Edda leaving Christiania Apr 24, 1872 arriving Quebec May 28, 1872. Her name was Agnette Evensdatter travelling with two brothers and her parents. I have her parents as Even Østensen(not Petersen) and her mother Caroline(not Pauline) Hansdatter. Their ref # is 531. How do I find out if I am correct. I realize that the handwriting was sometimes hard to read but everything about the children is correct. Thanks Judy
BorgeWhat you found on the transcript is what was actually written on the original list. I have uploaded a scan of the list Edda 1872 (it might take a while to load), so you can judge for your self. Are you sure that this was your family? Børge Solem
jpritchardThank you for the reply. The names are as they are posted. However every thing I have on the family matches to the other information. The ages all match the names for the most part are the same. I am still trying to find confirmation on what I have. They are what you might call my "Brick Wall". The family I am looking for were from Ringsaker, Hedmark and their destination was most likely LaCrosse, Wisconsin. They did eventually go to Volga, S.D. I guess I am going to have to keep looking. Thanks again Judy
BorgeIt is interesting to notice that the passenger traveling from Christiania on the Edda are listed in the Christiania Police Emigration records, and there your family is listed the way you say: Even Østensen Bjerkelien. I wonder if the captain on the Edda made an error when setting up the passenger list? Børge Solem
jpritchardI had found the information on the site of the emmigrants from Oslo. I am going to go on the assumption that these are the same people and that and error had been made until proven otherwise. I really appreciate the time and effort from you. I have another relative that I am looking for. She is my grandmother, Anna A. Egeberg. She left Trondheim in 1902 on the Norge but I haven't found her arriving in the US. I know the Norge was sailing for New York and I have checked the Ellis Island site but no luck. So I keep searching. Thanks again for everything, Judy
