passenger lists
dolsonI am fairly new to Norwegian genealogy. My ancestor, Lewis B. "Lars" Olson emigrated to LeRoy, Mower County, Minnesota. His naturalization papers said he came in July, 1864. Quite a few other sources confirm the 1864 date. His obituary and church records do not list his farm name. I've seen the ships listed on this website for 1864, and wonder if there are passenger lists for those ships ? If not in Norway, maybe Quebec or Chicago ? If these lists do not exist, any suggestions as to how I find his farm name or where in Norway he came from ? Thanks.
judy41I'm not sure about 1864 in partcular, but I do know that many passenger lists have been microfilmed by the LDS church. These are avaiable through rental services at any Family History Library (associated with an LDS church). Check first at your local library; they should be able to tell you whether lists for 1864 are available and where.
BorgeThere are no surviving lists in Norway or Canada for Norwegian ships to Canadian ports prior to 1865. Børge Solem
