Ola Jonson Orstavik
Andrea FurnessI am looking for any information on Ola Jonson Orstavik, born 1865. He left Norway for the USA and married Jessie.
thelebrityI would suggest this is your family, even though Ola probably isn't born yet in the 1865 census: http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&filnamn=f61519.wc2&variabel=0&postnr=4155&fulle=true&spraak=n Per Helge Seglsten

Andrea FurnessThanks for the info. It seems that the family from farm "Wig" and "Bakkene" is the right one. This correlates with what I have. Much appreciated. Having had a look at the Ellis Island site, I see that an Ola Jonson arrived 24 February 1892 on board the Majestic. Is there anyone who would have further info as to where Ola went once he landed? Also on board the ship was a Jessie Stevenson. I wonder if this is the Jessie he married and settled with in the USA? Hopefully I am on the right track.
thelebrityNina is of course right. The "14" is probably a misprint for "1/2" as Ole was born in 1865. Per Helge Seglsten
