Family of Sigurd Albert Larsen
martyjLooking for family members of Sigurd Albert Larsen, b. 1886. Son of Kristopher and Anne Oldatter Larsen. They lived in Dramen. He is the brother of Maren (Marie) Larsen who is my husbands grandmother. Martha Johnson
maggiHello Martha! The 1900 census gives the family as follows: Head: Christoffer Larsen , snow shoveller with the railway, born 1847 in Lier; his wife Anne Larsen b. 1855 in Gudbrandsdalen - Sakes parish; son Andreas, apprentice timber worker, b.1884 in Skoger; son Sigurd Albert b.1886 in Skoger, worker at Lorentsens spinning mill; son Lars Larsen b. 1888 in Drammen, worker at Lorentsens spinning mill; daughter Anna Larsen b. 1890 Drammen; daughter Gerda Larsen born 1895 in Drammen; and daughter CHristoffa larsen born 24.10.1899 in Drammen. What exactly are you looking for? Their ancestry, or Sigurd's descendants? Did he stay in Norway while your husband's grandmother emigrated? Unfortunately the Drammen Historical Society isn't online yet (as far as I know) but the address is; Drammen Historielag, Frode Meland Hotvetv. 30A, 3023 Drammen Norway. Maybe they could print a "Help wanted" ad in their journal. Best wishes from Moss, Norway.
martyjThank you for writing me. I am hoping that I might get some contact with Sigurd's descendants and some of the rest of the family. Maren (Marie) and Lars are the only two who came to America (as far as I know). Maren came over about 1901 as an indentured servant and Lars came over a few years later. Maren and two or three of her daughters visited Norway about 1967/68 and, of course they corresponded. Only two of Maren's children are still left but they don't remember much and they live a long way from me. Thank you for your suggestion about the Historical Society and their address. Martha J. maggiHello again! It might be worth trying the local paper if you want to trace living relatives. It's called DRAMMENS TIDENDE and you can e-mail them at <redaksjonen@dt.no>. You'll find their website at <www.dt.no>. Most papers will print a small notice for this purpose free of charge. Good luck!
