Christina Norlie & Family
lancer56The Norlie family and myself have been looking for information of when Chritina Norlie entered America and were. We have found her in the 1880 cencus along with her son Chris and daughter Mary. According to this they were born in Norway........she is listed as a widow. To make the thing more difficult we do not know the name of her husband. Any help would be appreciated Art Carlson
BorgeHave you tried to get her death certificate and naturalization papers, they should provide you with some additional information. Børge Solem
BriningAlso the marriage certificate for the children may provide additional info like mothers maiden name. Both Mary and Christian are listed in the Illinois Marriage Index http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/archives/marriage.html Finding Chris and Mary in the 1900 census could give you the year they immigrated Carla
lancer56Yes they are in the marage index for Illinois......and the death certificate turned out to not have the information.....and I believe that the got some info but it turned out to be usless. As far as the 1900 cencus is concerned is ther a index 1900 cencus available on line? Also how would I go About getting any online info from Norway if any exsists Art Carlson
BorgeIt should be possible to find them in Norwegian online sources, but you need to know what names to search for. That means that we need to know what name Christina Norlie went under in Norway - was her name Norli in Norway, or did she get the Norli name by marriage in the US? The Digitalarkivet link below will take you to a site with Norwegian censuses for 1801, 1865, partly 1875 and 1900. There are also emigration registers. Børge Solem
jwiborgHi, Hmm... what about this family? Emigrants from Oslo 1867-1930: 15-OCT-1869, Janette Norlie 45y, Kristiania Chicago 15-OCT-1869, Lauritz Norlie 18y, Kristiania Chicago 15-OCT-1869, Anna Norlie 15y, Kristiania Chicago 15-OCT-1869, Kristian Norlie 6y, Kristiania Chicago 15-OCT-1869, Marie Norlie 8y, Kristiania Chicago Click here You have Christian and Marie there, but noone called Christina... This must be the same family in the 1865-census: Click here I assume the lastname are spelled wrong. The asterix means that the name has been filled in afterwards, it's been assumed that they have same name as Chr. Nervlie. Jan
lancer56You are beautiful People i am sure it is him the dates fit with the 1880 cencus. Art Carlson
jwiborgHi Art, I asked if someone could look up Christian for me on microfilms, and here is what they came up with: CHRISTIAN OLUF, born 11-APR-1863, christened in "Vor Frelser church", Christiania 24-JUL-1863, son of Saddlemaker Christian Nordlie and wife Janette Albertine. (source: Oslo Domkirke Mini 16 1863-1871 2/13 no.134). Nordli farm in Ullensaker could be the origin of the name. So; is this the same Christian Norlie as you are searching? The big question is: Where is Christina??? Could Christina and Janette Albertine be the same person??? Jan
jwiborg...and here is Maries and (most likely) Janettes birth:
 • MARIE ALBERTINE, born 19-FEB-1861, christened 19-APR-1861 in Christiania (Vor Frelser church), daughter of Saddlemaker Christen Olsen Nordli and wife Janette Albertine born Bakke – Skippergaden 341. (source:Oslo Domkirke Mini 15 1857-1871 8/20 f.224 no.69)
 • JANETTE ALBERTINE, born 20-JAN-1825, christened 14-FEB-1825 in Christiania (Vor Frelser church), daughter of "Kammagersvend" Ole Bakke (lodger in Kobberslager Engers Gaard in Vaterland), and wife Laurine Olsdatter. (source:Oslo Domkirke Mini 10 1824-1830 1/14 p.32 no.21)
Jan

Jan....Thank you for all your time i have forwarded all of this to the Norlie Family
TracyCoxI'm curious about your Norlie Family. My gg grandmother was married to Olaus Norlie of Norway. I'm convinced that Norlie was a variation on the farm name of Bykkelstad Nordre. I believe that Olaus was actually an Olsen. I've traced Charlotte's line back to Johan Philip Rasch who was born in 1762. The majority of these people were from Akershus and Oppland. Many were Christened at Domkirke, Oslo. I would love to compare notes and share info. Tracy Cox
