What ship? From where to where and when to when in 1867? Unable to find, so far, at various Norwegian sites, including Digitalarkivet.
Born 24 January 1839 at Breen Farm II, a son of Torer (Thord/Thorer Erichsen) Eriksen (Breen) and Anne Ingelsdatter (Melby).
My database notes include: "Reared and educated in area where born in Norway. After leaving school went to Christiania and learned the tanner's trade, which he followed in Norway until 1867 when he decided to come to U.S. ..."
Also: "Left Norway in 1867, and arrived in U.S. in spring 1867; then, 10 years in New York City and NY state, following tanner trade; then to Massachusetts, where he worked in the factories; and to Kossuth County, Minnesota, in 1878, where farmed in Swea Township rest of his life. "
I already have considerable Breen Farms family ancestry as well as U.S.-related data. But a missing link is specifically pinning details of Chris' journey across the pond.

| Borge | The Digitalarkivet database, Emigrants from Oslo 1867-1930 is incomplete. For 1867 they only have registered 24 emigrants. Your gg-grandfather Christopher would have emigrated from Kristiania (Oslo), as I understand from the information given in your post. Your only option to find his departure seams to be the microfilm or the original protocols for the Kristiania police. The original is at the Statsarkiv in Oslo, the microfilm is available for purchasing or you might get access to them through the LDS. Another option is to find his arrival, it could be Quebec, New York or Boston. That option also leaves you with searching the microfilms. |
