Lindeheim (sp) Norway
alice rudoI would like to know where this place is in relation to Holla parish because this is where Tollef Rollefson/Rolleivson came from to America. Also is he found in the local church book ? I have also seen it spelled Lindom in America.
jwiborgHi, Lindeheim is prob. a farmname. I found no farms with that name in the 1865-census, but there was several farms called Lindhjem. (heim and hjem means both "home"). I think we need to know more about Tollef to proceed...[:)]
 • When was Tollef born?
 • What year did he emigrate?
 • Have you found the ship he went on?
 • If he emigrated after 1865; have you found him in the 1865-census? There are 3 persons called Tollef Rollefsen in Saude, Telemark in 1865.

alice rudoTollef Rollefson/Rolleivson was born 1791in Berge TE. He came to America in 1850 the year after his son came in 1849. I don't know on which ship he came. His son was known as Tollef in America, I believe. Alice
jwiborgHi, Here is as map of Telemark county. Holla parish is in Nome municipality. The farm Berge Nordre where Tollev Rollevssønner lived when he was 10 is situated in what was called Seude parish in 1801, now called Sauherad parish in Sauherad municipality. In the 1865 census, there are 9 farms called "Lindem" in Saude. jwiborgHi Alice, one Tellef Rollefsen (58) (line #104) is leaving Kragerø, Telemark on the brig "Alert" on May 16th, 1850. The brig arrived in New York on June 29th. Tellef is travelling with his wife Kari Torstensdatter (56) and children Halvor Tellefsen (16) and Gunild Tellefsdatter (15). Also on the ship is widow Torbjør Rollefsdatter (59). She could be Tollef's sister living on the same farm Berge Nordre in 1801. Could this be your family? [:)] Jan
jwiborgHi again, Alice! jwiborgHi, looks like Tollef Rollefson and Torbjør Rollefsdatter were twins... He lives in Amherst, Fillmore county, Minnesota. Jan
alice rudoThanks very, very much for the information on the Tollefsons. It has taken me a while to get it in my records - keeping the names straight - I did have an "Ingeborg Annundsdatter Haugard" born in 1743 as the wife of Rollef Torgrimson . I'm not sure where that came from. You have the info from FamilyHstoryCenter (LDS) and that must be firm.
alice rudoAlice, here again - I forgot to tell you that the Tollefsons in Amherst, MN are not in my family.
alice rudoPS Tollef Tollefson may have been traveling with Anne Gundersdatter but he married Anne Lurine/Gurene Nielsdatter (Niels Brynjuldsen) Alice
alice rudoNow, I just found this in my records so I think I'll go back to this wife for Rolleiv - maybe I've just "Lost IT" - my head that is with these names!! 1815, Dec 20, Rolleiv Tollefson, son of Tollef Rolleivson, was born in Nis/Naes Prestegfeld, Sauherad, Norway.2 He came with his wife Anne Amundsdatter of Oya u. Nord Sunde and 4 children to Milwaukee in 1849 at the age of 34 and settled in Erin Twp. Washington County. Amund was born 1838, Tollef was born 1841, Hans was born 1844, Anne born1846. Kari/Carrie was born in Wisconsin in 1850 and Gunhil/Cornelia was born in 1854. Rolleiv Tollefson [}:)] [8)] [xx(] Alice
