Mellom u Oeftstegarten
kymmHi, Could someone kindly tell me where in Norway this place is? I have an Anne Sorensdatter born there in 1821, however I do not know what province this is, or who her parents were. Thanks, Kymm[:X]
ninakarlsIn LDS there's are Anne born 10 OCT 1821 Vinger, Hedmark, to parents: SOREN HANSEN & SIRI ANDERSD. In Vinger there's a farm named Mellom in the 1865-census. Anne born 12 Mar 1821 Borge, Ostfold (Christening: 08 Apr 1821) to parents: Soren OLSEN & Marthe ANDERSDR. In Borge is also a farm names Mellem in the 1865-census. And there may be other candidates as well, there are several Øfstegaard/Øvstegaard farms in Norway.
kymmThank you Nina, I think the Ann from Hedmark may be the correct one as she married an Ole Eriksen from Glamsaas on 27 Dec 1844. Glamsaas was in Sor Odal, Hedmark. They both emmigrated to New Zealand where they were both highly respected . Ole was called Father of Norsewood due to his unflagging attempts to ensure the well being of his community and fellow Norse settlers. Ole and Ann are my ggg grandparents. I am now hoping you will be able to inform me what province Ringerige would be situated? Thanks again for all the help you have given me. Cheers, Kymm
TinaHi, Ringerike is situated in Buskerud "fylke" or province, with Hoenefoss (Hønefoss) as the province center. Regards, Tina
