This is probably Sigrid Nielsdatter, born on Brekke farm in Veggli in Rollag Parish in Numedal, daughter of Niel Bentsen and Anne Larsdatter Valle.  Sigrid was born 23 Feb. 1822, baptised 17 March (Rollag Parish Book 1814-1828, p. 45 #23).  She was reported in several sources to have immigrated in 1842, including Knut Hoff, Rollag Bygdebok, Vol. II, p. 177.  Following her older siblings Bergit and Bent to Jefferson Prairie settlement in Rock County, Wisconsin.  Note on this same ship, the younger Guri Langerud married Sigrid's brother Bent, and Marit would marry Sigrid's first cousin Ole Halvorson Valle.  Sigrid married Ole Tollefson Kittilsland from Veggli - please contact me for more information of her unusual story; also most Norwegian-American histories, including Hjalmer Rued Holand, De Norske Settlementers Historie.

Additional note:  Sigrid's father Niels was forced to sell 2/3 of Brekke in 1808, retaining 1/3 per Knut Hoff's Rollag bygdebok Vol. II, pp. 168-169 & 176-177.  This became Kallerud farm in 1810, but may not have been registered as such until 1825.  So may be more properly called Kallerud or Brekke-eie

Hunting Passenger Lists

The information in the Norway Heritage Project passenger list database mainly covers New York lists 1828 - 1850, and Canadian lists 1865 - 1875. In some cases information about Norwegian emigrants has also been added from other sources like newspaper announcements, voyage accounts or other random records. There are also entries from the Norwegian Police Emigration Records. For more information read the article
