Background info: This is Morten Munson from Helgerud. He married passenger #16 Anne Marie Bjørnsdatter from Lom. My great great grandparents. The story the family told was they met and married on board. Is there a ship's log that would note marriages performed by the captain?

His brother Ole Monson is also onboard with his wife and three daughters (#79-83). Anne Marie and Morton Munson Helgerud marry in 1850 and settle in Akan, Richland Co, Wisconsin. Ole settles in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. Sources: 1. Bok om Land Vol. IV "The Emigration to America from Nordre and Søndre Land, 1839-1915," by Arvid Sandaker 1973, translation 2002; 2. It is written “the first settlement within the limits now comprising the town of Akan was effected in the spring of 1851 by Martin Munson, Ole Johnson and John Torgerson (#18 on this Passenger List), a party of Norwegians, who came via Dodgeville. Martin Munson entered land on sections 26 and 27, on what might then be called the extreme frontier, and many travelers on their way westward were entertained in Munson's little log cabin. Mr. Munson was an industrious and thrifty man and accumulated considerable property.

Morten Monsen from Helgerud is also found in Bygdabok: Boka om Land VIII Nordsinni p. 252 where his father Mons Andersen's family is detailed. Mons ran the Helgerud farm for years, most of his kids were born there. 4 family members shown to have left for Amerika in 1849 are found on this ship: father Mons Andersen Helgerud age 75 (listed simply as Mons Helgerud), his son Morton here (listed as Morten Helgerud), a daughter, Berthe Monsdatter, age 24 (b. 1827) female, and son Ole Monsen age 40 male along with his wife Karen Torkildsdatter age 34 and their 3 young daughters.
