I believe this to be Svend Olson Breland (Breiland or Bredland in Norway), the father of Ole Breland who is also on the ship as just "Ole" with a group of other boys his age (18). Ole was my great grandfather and one of the other boys on this ship was Jon J. Runestad, another of my great grandfather's coming to America for the first time in 1873. Svend was born 25 April 1819 at Breiland farm, Hjelmeland, Rogaland, Norway. Ole came to America (Illinois, then South Dakota) in 1857 at the age of 1 year with his parents Svend and Elizabeth and sister Britha and I think Ole and Svend took a trip back to their homeland in 1873, returning on the Bark Hebe. Contact me at mika74@sio.midco.net if you would like more information on this family or if you have information to share. Sources: 1880 U.S. Census for Livingston co. IL, Hjelmeland Bygdebok, 1900 U.S. Census for Livingston co, family histories, Norway parish records, etc.
