This is John Johnson Runestad, from Fogn, Finnøy, Norway. He was born 21 April 1856 on the Runestad farm, island of Fogn. Not sure what "Haa" is unless that is the last farm he lived on before be came to America in 1873 to his uncle Sjovat Rasmussen Runestad in La Salle Co., Illinois. He came with his cousins, Tobias Halvorson Varland (T. H. Varland) on this list and Jacob Jacobson Eide. His parents were both dead by then and he was the youngest son. Sources are Norway parish records, U.S. census records for La Salle and Livingston counties, IL and Sanborn Co., SD, information from his children (his obituary) and the Finnøy bygdebok (volume 3). mika74@sio.midco.net
