Ellen Kirsten Gronningen (28.03.2010)

He is my great-great grandfather. In Norway, he lived in Stjordal, in Trondheim county. After coming to the US, he changed his name to Peter Burseth. Borseth was the name of one of the farms for which he had worked in Norway, where his name had been Peder Andersen Fornesgjerdet.
He was born 25 Sept 1820 and lived to be 87 yrs.
He settled in Otter Tail County, Minnesota. His youngest daughter, Anna, is my great-grandmother.
I learned much information on this family from my grandfather's cousin Philip Burseth, grandson of Peter. Philip lived on the family farm and knew his grandparents.

Dave Peterson (09.01.2017)

The above submitted by Ellen Kirsten Gronningen is correct. Peder Andersen and Berit Eriksdatter are my great grandparents (Gurine -my mother's grandmother, Peder her grandfather). Prior to leaving Norway, Peder Andersen lived at Børsethaugen, also seen as Børsetplads in Hegra, Øvre Stjørdal, Nord-Trøndelag. Here he and his wife Berit Eriksdatter are found when their son Peder Pedersen was born in 1860

Here you will find the birth record #49 for son Peder listing his father Peter Andersen and mother Berit Eriksdatter:
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Nord-Trøndelag, 703/L0028: Ministerialbok nr. 703A01, 1850-1862, s. 61

Here you see the farm place named Børsetgjerdet at the birth of their daughter Gurine (my great grandmother):
SAT, Ministerialprotokoller, klokkerbøker og fødselsregistre - Nord-Trøndelag, 703/L0029: Ministerialbok nr. 703A02, 1863-1879, s. 10

The listed family members sailed to America with their parents Berit and Peder, however to date, I have been unable to find a birth record in Norway of the person listed as Oline Pedersdatter Børseth, age 8, nor have I found a death record in America. As a side note, the stated ages in the list were not accurate based on their birth records that I've found in Norway church records.
