Thor Iverson Wiste is the brother of Ole Wiste, Anders Wiste, Thomas Wiste and Iver Wiste. All are from Vaage, Gudbrandsdalen (Gulbrandsdalen) Norway. There is a Gudbrandsdalen (but I cannot find "Gulbrandsdalen" in Norway so I believe the spelling is incorrect as listed.

My great grandfather is Anders Iversen Wisted, (born 1849) brother of Thor, emigrated in 1875 and settled in farmland northwest of Sacred Heart, Minnesota. Birth/Baptism records can be found for all brothers (and sisters) in the Vaga Stave Church byggdebok records.

Correction in above comments: Anders Iversen Wisted emigrated in 1871. There are two documents in my posession which conflicted on the date. The oldest document filed in Hennepin County, Minnesota, in 1875 states his arrival was about June 15, 1871.

Please forgive me for not providing more information here, but I have a question. Do you happen to know if the Ole Wiste listed as a brother in this record was married to Inge, and also emigrated to Minnesota? I would greatly appreciate anything you are able to share, as Ole and Inge Wiste were my great-great-grandparents.

The information in the Norway Heritage Project passenger list database mainly covers New York lists 1828 - 1850, and Canadian lists 1865 - 1875. In some cases information about Norwegian emigrants has also been added from other sources like newspaper announcements, voyage accounts or other random records. There are also entries from the Norwegian Police Emigration Records. For more information read the article
