Churches and Congregations

The first Norwegian congregation in Cascade County was Vor Frelsers Congregation, established at Great Falls in 1891 by Pastor J. D. Ylvisaker. The congregation belonged to the Norwegian Synod, and its church was built in 1893. By 1905, there were also two Norwegian Methodist congregations in the county, each with its own church.

Public Office

Lewis Roalsvik was the first Norwegian to hold public office in Cascade County and, by 1905, the only one known to have done so. He was elected County Commissioner in 1900.
