Norwegian Settlement at Lime Grove
The Norwegian settlement in the vicinity of Lime Grove was described as the oldest Norwegian settlement in Nebraska. Its founder was Mons Nilsen from Vossevangen, who settled there in 1857 or 1868. The source gives both years and does not resolve the discrepancy. Many of the Norwegian families who later lived in the settlement came from communities east of Kristiania (Oslo).
Churches and Congregations
The Norwegian community had two congregations and two churches. One congregation belonged to the United Church, while the other belonged to the Norwegian Synod.
