Dunn County, North Dakota

Early Norwegian Settlement

The first Norwegians in Dunn County were Ole Pettersen from Trysil, Østerdalen, and Henry Lindal. They came from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and settled in the vicinity of Rock Springs in 1888. Cattle raising became the principal source of income for the settlers. Taylor, about twenty-five miles away, was their first and nearest market.
