In Castledale, where a small number of Norwegians settled, Oluf Anderson from Kristiania (Oslo) was the first. He settled there in 1864.

Three Norwegian-born residents had held county offices by 1905.
John Aamodt of Castledale, also Norwegian-born, served as a Mormon bishop.
