Norwegian Settlement

Hughes County, where the South Dakota capital of Pierre is located, had no distinct Norwegian settlement. A number of Norwegians did, however, live in Pierre, many of them likely officials or others employed at the state capitol.

Churches and Congregations

There was also a Norwegian congregation in Pierre, served by pastors of the United Church.
