Early Norwegian Presence
Norwegians visited Michigan as early as 1833, when Østen Espeland, Ingebrigt Larsen Nordvig, Tosten Bjaadland, and a few others came to Adrian in Lenawee County. Most of them soon moved elsewhere, however, and no Norwegian settlement developed in the county.
