Lincoln County, Washington

Norwegian Community

A number of Norwegians lived in Davenport, Wilbur, and Sherman.

In Wilbur, there was a Lutheran congregation with a partly Norwegian membership that had for many years been served by Pastor Lauritz Nissen. A similar congregation existed in Davenport. Both were associated with the Norwegian Synod, although they were apparently not formally affiliated with it.

Public Office

John P. Martin, a Norwegian resident of Sherman, had served as County Commissioner.
