Passaic County, New Jersey

Norwegian Presence in Passaic

Very few Norwegians lived in Passaic County. One who became prominent was Anton L. Pettersen, a civil engineer in the city of Passaic. He was elected to the New Jersey State Legislature in 1902.

Norwegian Place Names

Passaic County also had a post office named Moe. The source noted that the origin of the name was unknown, but suggested that it may have been given by a Norwegian.
