Early Norwegian Presence
Mrs. C. F. Lybbert of Naples was the first person of Norwegian ancestry known to have settled in Uintah County. She was also among the early settlers who came to Utah by ox wagon. During the journey west, one of her female companions was captured and carried away by Indians.
By 1905, the Norwegian population in Uintah County was very small and widely scattered.
