Early Norwegian Settlement
J. L. Ness from Landsvik in Herdla Parish was the first Norwegian settler in Weber County. He settled in Ogden in 1864 and worked there as a shoemaker.
By 1905, a considerable number of Norwegians lived in Ogden, although the city itself was relatively large. Despite their numbers, they had not established any separate Norwegian association, congregation, or church organization.
