The Norseland Settlement
The first Norwegian to settle at El Campo, where a small settlement known as Norseland later developed, was a man named Volding (Wolding). He came from Iowa in 1894. Later that same year came Otto Løvstuen and John Nygaard. Cotton and maize growing became the settlement’s principal sources of income.
Churches and Congregations
There was a Norwegian congregation in the settlement belonging to the Norwegian Synod.
