Norwegian Settlement at Hay

A small Norwegian settlement developed at Hay. A congregation was established there in 1902, with Pastor Iver Andreassen of the United Church as its first pastor. The congregation, known as the Selbu Congregation, built a church in 1904. By 1905, it belonged to Hauge’s Synod.

Norwegian Settlement at La Crosse

A number of Norwegians also settled at La Crosse. The settlement was established in 1900 by the author Elias Molee, whose parents came from Tinn, Telemark. He was followed by Peder and Jørgen Wigen from Selbu and Alex Hoyen from Hardanger.
