Early Norwegian Settlement
The first Norwegian to settle in Williamson County, where the Norwegian population was relatively small, was Harald Haarsager Hauss from Sandefjord. He was a brother of the well-known Captain Henry Hauss of the 15th Wisconsin Regiment. Harald H. Hauss settled at Round Rock in 1867. He was followed by Bernt C. Halvorsen from Frogn near Drøbak and John Pedersen from Eidsvoll.
