| Information | She arrived in Buffalo, New York, with her husband and two children in 1851. Shortly after their arrival, her husband died, leaving her alone with the children, unable to speak English and far from friends and countrymen. She made her way to the Norwegian settlement at Koshkonong, Wisconsin, but left due to a cholera outbreak. She then traveled from Milwaukee to Stoughton, where she lived for a few years before moving to Nebraska and remarrying. |
