Andreas Knudsen in New York

My great-great-uncle Andreas Knudsen was born Jan 9, 1857 in Rogaland, Norway and died Dec 13, 1929 in Kings, New York. He probably came to New York about 1880-1890, after being a sailor/seaman for several years. He settled in New York with his wife Elizabeth, born in Stavanger Aug 27, 1851, died in New York Nov 20, 1913. But what did Andreas do for living in NY? Where did he live, occupation etc. ? His family in Norway was informed about his death in 1929, but I know nothing about his probably more than forty years in NY. I will appreciate any information about this.
