Bernt (Benjamin) Martin Pederson Brekne

I am looking for the ancestors of my great-grandfather Benjamin Pederson. He was born on 6/7/1851. According to his death certificate, his father was Peter Jacobson. They lived on the Brekne (Braekne) farm in the Lista, Vest-Agder area of Norway and my grandmother's writings say that Benjamin was born there, but no records have been found that either of them were born there. Benjamin emigrated to the United States in 1871. A Peter Jacobson on the Torp farm in Lista/Vanse is a possibility, but is not verified. Does anyone have any leads for me? Thanks,
