Bygdebok/Communes

Hi everyone! I am trying to find the commune that my ancestors lived in so I can search for the Bygdebok. My ancestor was part of St Petri Kirke Parish in Stavanger, Rogaland Norway. Does anyone know how I can figure out what commune they were from? Or does anyone have any other helpful tips on researching this? Thank you, Jeanine
