Death Record for Halvor Johannesson

Halvor was born in Norway 1819, emigrated with his family to America in 1855. Halvor was a poor provider and left his family to fend for themselves when he left them in Capron Illinois to go mining in Montana. His son Gunder (now Jenner Johnson) went with Halvor. Jenner raised a big family ....some of his ancestors I have contact with. Halvor (aka Nelson Johnson) died in 1899 - presumably in Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana. In spite of Halvor having many relatives in the area ....some of the ancestors I have talked to ...no one seems to know any of his story while in Montana for 20 years or more ...not even the Cemetary where he is buried. A story circulates among family that he was found shot to death in his cabin in 1899. I have been trying to find anything on Halvor (my 3X Great Grandfather) for years. Looking for help please. Lorne
