Family Name Research

Good Morning everyone! I am having trouble in researching my boyfriends family name. They swear they are Norwegian with a last name of Burton. I have tried to break down the name, and maybe that was i could some-how trace back the roots to a town. No luck. However, i did find that the name is acutally English. I am so confused! I just love this family to death and i think they would really appreciate it. Any suggestions. [;)] Amy
